Seth Rogen and Zac Efron Team Up Again for ‘Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising’

So nice, someone asked for it twice. At least the studios did when they greenlit a sequel to 2014’s “Neighbors.” It told the story of a married couple struggling between wanting what’s best for their baby daughter while still wanting to be cool, young, hip people. On top of their inner turmoil of reaching a certain level of adulthood, they had to deal with the noisy fraternity next door led by the ab-licious Zac Efron. The still-maturing couple has a new conflict and, of course, a new crop of enemies in the form of a sorority in “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.”

This time around Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne’s Mac and Kelly Radner want to sell the house they’re in and move on with their lives. The only problem is that an obnoxious sorority has moved in making it almost impossible to unload their home to a new buyer. So when push comes to shove, the Radner’s have to call for backup. And there’s no better equipped to help them with this problem than Teddy, the guy who caused all the drama last time. They enlist their former enemy to help take out the new variety packed sorority house led by “Kick-Ass'” Chloë Grace Moretz. She leads the tough, sexy sisterhood that includes Disney turned pop star Selena Gomez, “Dope’s” Kiersey Clemons. Carla Gallo is back to reprise her role from the from the original “Neighbors.”

Those who found the first installment of “Neighbors’” raunchy perspective funny are in for even more laughs the second time around. Most of the characters are somewhat familiar with – the sweet sorority sister, the smart alec recruit, the balls to the wall leader – the plot being almost identical to the first except with Moretz taking over the Efron role. But don’t fret, Efron is still shirtless and as sexy as ever, this time grinding his way to distracting the sorority sisters away from their conniving efforts. While it probably won’t be taking home an Oscar, audiences who favor contenders for MTV Movie Awards are the ones who are going to appreciate this one.

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” opens everywhere May 20.
