Indulge in the Performing Arts With Hollywood Fringe Festival

Art comes in many different forms, but when it comes to the annual Hollywood Fringe Festival, it’s all about performance art and all the stage antics that come with it. From cabaret and physical theater to comedy and beyond, the acts during this month-long celebration will soon be gaining new fans.

With a list a mile long, we have handpicked some of the festival highlights. A few to look out for are “Nine Dresses: The Show” and “Julianne: Live from L.A!” in the cabaret genre; One explores the horrific side of fashion while the latter resides in Mimi von Schack’s imagination. Another one-woman show is “Wavy & Blurry” featuring Juliette Marshall on stage with only her wit and a couple of instruments that add a touch of  pizzazz. Then there’s the show that takes the creativity of a childhood favorite and puts it on stage for a unique, improv game with “Mad Lib Musical.”

Those who want to move and shake should check out “Office Beat.” It’s a gleeful comedy that intertwines dance, movement and story in the production that centers on a tap dancing office that introduces a new boss who enforces a no-tap policy. Then for some laughs without the dancing, go see “The 7 Guys You Date Before You Get Married” for “a comedians guide to romance.” A woman hilariously relives seven relationships and the lessons she learned from each beau. When “The 7 Guys” hit Los Angeles it not only entertained but portrayed a universal story that most adults have experienced. The Kickstarter-backed project “Toiley T. Paper: Roll Model” was created by two stage veterans, puppeteer Grant Baciocco of The Jim Henson Company and “Mystery Science Theatre 3000” and award-winning musical director John B. deHaas. Yup, a comedy about a puppet toilet paper roll. On top of those shows, there are performances from ensemble groups, musicals and operas as well as solo guys and gals taking over the stage. Guests can also check out workshops on virtual reality, stage acting and storytelling, to name a few. A complete list and ticket information can be found here
