Los Angeles Conservancy Presents the 30th Annual Last Remaining Seats

The Los Angeles Conservancy has been working steadily since the late ‘70s to maintain the beauty of classic buildings in this city. Their site says the Conservancy’s advocacy efforts seek to preserve and revitalize historic places throughout Los Angeles County. And one way they fulfill that mission is with their annual Last Remaining Seats series, which celebrates its 30th year in 2016. For three weeks in June, Los Angeles Conservancy takes over stunning theaters around the city to showcase classic films, and everyone is invited to partake in the fun.

Last Remaining Seats will kick things off at the start of June with a classic Tom Cruise film, “Top Gun.” With two showings that day, one in the afternoon and later that night, they’ll invade the Los Angeles Theatre with the 1986 hit that followed Maverick and Goose as the pilots took to the sky. A few days later, Million Dollar Theatre will be showing the onscreen adaptation of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Fans of Marilyn Monroe will want to check out an oldie but goodie with “Some Like It Hot.” This series will shine a light on the strong Hispanic community with a showing of “Dos tipos de cuidado” at the Palace Theatre. Following that, The Theatre at Ace Hotel will host Gene Kelly’s “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Double Indemnity.” This event closes out with “Safety Last!” at the Orpheum

There are a number of films to see and places to see them, and this is not only a night out at the movies but also a chance to admire some of the most beautiful structures in Los Angeles. Tickets for these screenings cost $18 for members and $22 for non-members.

The Los Angeles Conservancy and their 30th annual Last Remaining Seats series kicks off June 4 and wraps up on June 25. Tickets can be purchased here.
