BET Experience Returns to L.A. Live With Fetty Wap, Usher, Mike Epps and More

The early ‘80s witnessed the debut of the BET network and from that launch, the world saw news, entertainment and music that focused solely on African Americans. It celebrated not only hip-hop and R&B music but also showcased a healthy dose of programming that ranged from dramas to comedies. Fans of the network continued to show support every year at the beginning of summer with the BET Experience.

Staples Center is the cornerstone of the Experience as it houses most of the big-ticket performances during the festivities. Fans who partake in all three days will have the chance to see the “Birthday Song” rapper 2 Chainz. No word yet on if Kanye West will appear to sing his part of the song but fingers are crossed. While West’s appearance is up in the air, 2 Chainz will be joined by veteran rapper Lil Wayne. Another dynamic pairing is newcomer Bryson Tiller and one of the reigning kings of R&B, Usher. Audiences have loved him since he broke into the mainstream with “Call Me a Mack” in ’93. A master of his voice, as well as his dance moves, Usher’s shows never disappoint and will no doubt be one of the highlights of the entire BET Experience. Another act on board to round out the music is Philly’s own The Roots who have been jamming since the ‘90s and continue to do so thanks to their undeniable talent that landed them to Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show.” Fetty Wap is also set to perform his ‘15 hit, “Trap Queen.”

BET wasn’t just bred from music. Comedy has long been a tradition of the network so it is no wonder they bring out some of the most well-known names in standup and movie theater laughs. This year, Katt Williams and Mike Epps headline the comedy stages. With Williams having more lows than highs over the past couple of years, most fans will be filling the seats to see what he has to say about his recent run-ins with the law and being taken down by a middle school student. Then there’s Epps who has never been shy about his stage material, reminiscent of that cool uncle who is too old to care about being PC. Music, comedy, a celebrity basketball game, exhibits and more are all in store this summer at L.A. Live.

The BET Experience takes place at various venues within L.A. Live from June 23-26. Tickets and more information can be found here.
