Tool, Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino to Headline Governors Ball Music Festival

The latest lineup announcement to the long-awaited summer festival circuit is here and this one represents all that modern music has to offer, with a little nostalgia for good measure. Governors Ball Music Festival will take place on Randall’s Island Park in New York City from June 2-4. The lineup is stacked with some of the most prolific and hard-to-book artists from rap to rock.

At the top of the bill for 2017 are prog-rock revival band Tool performing its first NYC show in more than a decade. Rumors have been circulating about the band’s new album – it’d be their first in 11 years – and many fans are hoping for new tracks to be premiered at this very show. Chicago’s own Chance the Rapper will also be out supporting his latest full-length “Coloring Book.” Phoenix hasn’t been on the scene much since the record “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” came out in 2009, but expect to hear tracks from the latest effort, “Bankrupt!” Childish Gambino will be among one of the most hottest sets of the weekend as the rapper/actor rarely performs.

Other acts throughout the weekend will include Lorde, Flume, Wu-Tang Clan, Wiz Khalifa, Cage the Elephant, Logic, Schoolboy Q, Mark Ronson, Marshmello, Beach House, Tove Lo, Phantogram and The Head and The Heart. Four stages will host these acts on the park-like Randall’s Island. Look forward to enjoying the outdoors alongside extra treats such as life-size board games, mini-golf, a silence disco and interactive photo booths.

Randall’s Island is between Manhattan, The Bronx and Queens. The hotel possibilities include midtown’s Hudson Hotel. This hyper-modern respite invites urban adventurers to witness a “daredevil design” in a social atmosphere. The lobby houses numerous bars including Hudson Common, Private Park, Library Bar and their newest addition to the family, Hudson Bar. For art and architecture lovers, The William has what you crave. Located in the heart of downtown, The William features specially curated, design-centric décor as well as a plethora of bars including Raines Law Room, The William and The Shakespeare. Lastly, The Royalton in midtown is the self-proclaimed “stylish living room of Manhattan.” The Royalton features hand-upholstered leather throughout and a bronze fireplace for an extra touch of class. Also featured is the hotel’s popular Forty Four bar and restaurant.
