Isabella Rossellini Blends Nature and Porn at ‘GREEN PORNO LIVE’

This month Italian actress/filmmaker/model Isabella Rossellini will prove that nature and pornography go hand in hand when she performs her show “Green Porno Live” at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles on October 11th.
“Green Porno” which debuted as a series of short films on The Sundance Channel in 2008, explores the sexual behavior of animals and insects. Rossellini makes use of elaborate costumes and cardboard cut outs in order to reenact the mating rituals of a variety of species, including the dragonfly, spider, bee, praying mantis, earthworm, snail, and various marine life.
Rossellini is not only the star of “Green Porno,” she conceived, wrote and directed the series herself. Rossellini, who is best known for her roles in the films “Blue Velvet” and “Death Becomes Her,” as well as memorable cameos in “Friends” and “30 Rock” has long been involved in conservation efforts. She is a board member of the Wildlife Conservation Network, and president and director of the Howard Gilman Foundation, an institution focused on the preservation of her two loves, wildlife and the arts.
Before the release of the third series of “Green Porno” in 2009, Rossellini discussed the process of making each film with the Wall Street Journal: “First, I do a lot of research. Then, I have to figure out how to translate the research into something visual and how to make it comical. Because the purpose of each film is to make people laugh, to entertain them. But the information has to be correct; I don’t think it would be funny if it were just me saying a lot of bullsh–*. Once that is done, we have to build the costumes. I design the basic idea and then my collaborators Jody Shapiro and Rick Gilbert to do all the cutting and pasting of the paper, because I wouldn’t know how to execute them.”
For “Green Porno Live”, Rossellini, along with writer Jean-Claude Carrière, will bring to life the bizarre sexual rituals found in the wild such as males being eaten alive right after the reproduction process, animal orgies, seduction dances, and much, much, more. Guests will have the opportunity to get liquored up beforehand, as there will be a cocktail reception at 6:30pm, followed by the 8pm show.
Because of the rather mature nature of “Green Porno Live”, the museum is recommending the show be for guests over the age of 18 only.
