TV on the Radio Playing the Regent Theater for Two Nights

Angelenos’ are unable to resist the allure of TV on the Radio, and as a result the band has sold out their two upcoming shows in the heart of the city at the Regent Theater. The band will be playing the nights of Wednesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 23. Opening for TV on the Radio is Portland-based singer and producer, Natasha Kmeto.

Formed in 2001 in Brooklyn, New York, TV on the Radio is comprised of vocalist Tunde Adebimpe, guitarists Kyp Malone and David Sitek, and drummer Jaleel Bunton. Their fifth studio album, “Seeds” is a compilation of twelve tracks that showcases TVOTR’s rock, funk, and synthpop sound stylings. The album will be released in a month and was recorded in Los Angeles at guitarist Sitek’s Federal Prism studio.

The foursome revealed details on their upcoming album this past July, lead singer Adebimpe expressing his gratitude with how the band triumphed over personal issues because “[this] record is, one thousand percent, without a doubt, the best thing we’ve ever done.” “Seeds” is the group’s first album since the death of their bassist Gerard Smith in 2011.

“Happy Idiot,” the fourth track off their upcoming album, is the first single to be released. Fair warning: you will start dancing when you hear it. The band uploaded the music video for “Happy Idiot” during the first week of Oct. as an exceptional teaser of what more is to come.

TV on the Radio has collaborated with the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Celebration, Dragons of Zynth, and Blonde Redhead. The group’s sound, as tricky is it is to pinpoint specifically, is based on their appreciation for music by Earth, Wind & Fire, Nancy Sinatra, Serge Gainsbourg, and the Pixies.

TVOTR is currently on tour and the musicians are paving their way down the West Coast with plans to traipse over to Canada followed by the East Coast. The final night of their tour is in their town of origin, Brooklyn, New York, merely days after the album’s release date on Nov. 18.

TV on the Radio will be performing with opening act Natasha Kmeto at the Regent Theater on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23. A limited quantity of tickets is available at Stubhub.
