Last Comic Standing Season Eight to Perform at the Saban Theatre

NBC’s hit reality comedy competition, “Last Comic Standing,” finished its eighth season this summer in its latest search for the funniest comic. Starting with a pool of the top 100 comics in America, the season’s contestants undergo multiple rounds of elimination based off the various comedy disciplines from sketch comedy, improv and stand-up. This year’s three celebrity judges, Roseanne Barr, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Russell Peters, helped pare down the comic pool each episode. The series was filmed around Los Angeles including at the Hollywood Improv, Universal CityWalk, as well as the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles, where the top five contestants will be returning on their Last Comic Standing Tour on Nov. 22.

Winner of Season 8 of Last Comic Standing is the born and raised Georgia native, Rod Man. Rod Man grew up watching comedy and loved finding his humor through storytelling. He starting hitting open mics around Atlanta and from there, he won first place at the Urban Comedy Festival in New York. He has worked all over the country in theaters such as Caesars Palace and The Apollo Theatre. Additionally, Rod Man has worked in film and television as an actor.

Joining Rod Man are the four other contestants of the final five from Season Eight, Nikki Carr, Joe Machi, Lachlan Patterson and Rocky Laporte. Nikki Carr, a New Yorker, didn’t start her career until later in life, her debut was at age 34 at the New York Comedy Club. Joe Machi from State College, Pennsylvania got his start at The Comic Strip, where comedian Chris Rock first entered the comedy scene. Machi has been seen on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” and won “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up Competition” in 2013. Canadian Lachlan Patterson began his comedic career at age 19 and has been seen all over Canada at various comedy festivals.  His debut album, “Jokes To Make Love To” hit No. 10 on Rooftop’s Comedy list. Finally, Rocky Laporte will be completing the line-up. Once a truck driver from Chicago, Laporte turned to a comedy career 26 years ago. He’s opened for multiple comedians and had his own half-hour long special on Comedy Central. A night of jokes, both from show episodes and new material, will have the house roaring with laughter all night.
