Tegan and Sara ‘Wanna Get Closer’ at the Hollywood Palladium

Representing the idea that “all good things come in pairs” are the cherished Canadian twins, Tegan and Sara, who are performing at the Hollywood Palladium this month. Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, the Quin sisters have been generating music since their teenage years. Not long after graduating high school, the two of them hopped on a Greyhound bus and started touring. Acknowledgment of their music started growing when they toured as an opening band for major artists like Neil Young and The Pretenders in 2000.

This being their first headlining tour since 2012, Tegan and Sara have been busy opening for bands like Fun and Katy Perry over the last few years. Releasing their seventh studio album “Heartthrob” in 2013, the edgy duo has experimented with multiple sounds and styles since their first album release in 1999.

Notably popular with help from the show “Grey’s Anatomy,” Tegan and Sara had a number of songs featured on the first season soundtrack in 2005. They have continued expanding their music’s sound since gaining their “Grey’s Anatomy” fan base. Today, their full discography follows their journey from young songwriters to indie-rock superstars.

Additionally, Tegan and Sara put their energy into growing awareness and support for LGBTQ communities. Performing at events like Toronto World Pride 2014 and working with charities like FIERCE NYC, they aim to reinforce gay communities all over North America.

Regardless of their ever-evolving sound, their piquant vocals have been with them since the start. Tegan and Sara will be driving their cultivated music into the ears of the crowd at the Hollywood Palladium, one of Hollywood’s most classic concert halls. Opening for Tegan and Sara is the San Francisco based rock band, Waters, bound to provide a precursor of danceable music to beckon the audience onto the 11,000 square foot dance floor. With Waters, also comes the opening band, The Courtneys, a group of three female rock stars from Vancouver, who pay tribute to the west coast with songs like “90210” using their 90’s pop/rock musical influences.

Bound to corral a wide demographic, Tegan and Sara will share their ambient qualities and blood-pumping pop to create a night of motley moods almost as varietal as the styles of music they’re known to explore.
