The Head and the Heart to Make Hearts Melt At The Theatre at Ace Hotel

Seattle-based indie folk group, The Head and the Heart, will be performing at The Theatre at the Ace Hotel on Nov. 22. Forming in 2009, the six members of the band met over the course of multiple open mic nights in Seattle’s Conor Byrne Pub.

Gaining local popularity in Seattle got them signed with Seattle’s record label, Sub Pop. Soon after, they released the revamped version of their first album in 2011, which hit No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard Folk Albums Chart. The band toured their first year, promoting their music under headliners like Vampire Weekend and Death Cab for Cutie. Using strong folk influences and peppy percussion, the folk rock audiences of the world came to know their catchy tunes.

Despite the busy schedule of being on tour, The Head and the Heart were ready to record new music during their time spent on tour. According to front man Josiah Johnson, this was the “first time that [they] produced as a full band…this one is everyone’s influences equally present and prevalent throughout the album.” They released their second studio album, “Let’s Be Still,” in Oct. of 2013 “Let’s Be Still” made its way to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Folk Albums Chart and No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart.

The Head and the Heart will be performing on day 22 of Red Bull Sound Select: 30 Days in L.A., a 30-day event made to celebrate emerging music. Becoming a member of Red Bull Sound Select, which is free, gives you access to discounted and members-only shows. Opening for The Head and the Heart is Los Colognes, a Blues/Country band from Chicago.

The Head and the Heart will perform at The Theatre at Ace Hotel on Nov. 22 as part of their Winter Tour. This concert is sold out.
