Australian Duo Flight Facilities to Perform at Regent Theater

Australian electronic production duo Flight Facilities will be performing at the Regent Theater on December 5. Flight Facilities consists of Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell. Their remixes and work with other artists has catapulted them directly into the spotlight. With a penchant for releasing singles instead of albums and EP, their name was quickly associated with home-run tracks like “Two Bodies” and “Foreign Language.”

They are proudly influenced by such acts like ELO, Jamiroquai, Daft Punk, Chic and Mylo. The disco house duo got it start by mixing various songs by other artists in 2009 including Bag Raiders, Toe Cutter and Sneaky Sound System. Their selective remix work also includes reworking tracks from Holy Ghost!, Cut Copy, The C90s, and Miike Snow.  Through their label Bang Gang, they released their first original song, “Crave You” featuring guest vocals by Giselle Rosselli whom they were originally trying to recruit to play xylophone. The sexy and effervescent song made its way to Australia’s alternative radio station Triple J in 2010 and was listed as number 19 in the Triple J’s Hottest 100, in 2010.

In July 2010, they embarked on an Australian and Japanese tour called the Maiden Voyage. In 2011, ”

Foreign Language” won a J-Award for their music video and ranked number 72 on Triple J’s Hot 100, 2011. In 2012, “Claire de Lune” appeared as number 17 on Triple J Top 100, 2012.  Also in 2012, they made four one-hour mixtapes of the evolution of four decades of music, all in chronological order.

Their debut album “Down to Earth” was released in October 2014 through Glassnote Records and features big name artists like Australian singer Emma Louise, comedian and musician Reggie Watts, young American rapper Bishop Nehru, and pop sensation Kylie Minogue who reprised Flight Facilities original hit “Crave You.”

Flight Facilities will be performing at the Regent Theater on Dec. 5.
