L.A. Native Jhené Aiko to Perform at Club Nokia

One of the top neo-soul artists of today, Jhené Aiko grew up in the limelight of contemporary R&B and had early high-profile collaborations. A native Angeleno, Aiko was born into a musical family where she began a career as a backup singer to the group B2K. Today, after releasing a mixtape and two studio albums, she is returning to Los Angeles on her “Enter the Void Tour” at Club Nokia on Dec. 7 and 12.

Unlike most artists today, Aiko’s live shows remain raw and unconditional. Often compared to soul legend, Sade, her presence dwells in simplicity with her alluring vocals creating a sensual and honest musical experience.

Through her work, entirely written by herself, she has worked with rappers like Drake, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar. Aiko’s keen collaborator skills coordinate with her existing sound.

At Club Nokia, Aiko will have a powerful team representing her tour. With her opening acts SZA, The Internet, Willow Smith and Anderson.Paak, the event will be more than expected. SZA is a neo-soul songwriter from St. Louis, MO with a sound much like Aiko. Having released three EPs, she has announced the release of her album, “A,” in 2015. A soul group, with two members coming from the band Odd Future, brings us The Internet. Using 80s synth-pop and trip-hop, The Internet embellishes their soulful vocals with deliberate beats and complex synth. Willow Smith has grown her fan-base with the release of numerous singles, her top charted being “Whip My Hair.” With her extended release of “3” released online a few weeks ago, Smith has transported the sound of her youth to a steamy, passionate softness. Lastly, Anderson.Paak, the alternative R&B vocalist and drummer from Ventura, California, will collectively create a diverse concert with the other opening artists before Aiko takes the stage.
