Stevie Wonder to Perform His Timeless Hits for Christmas Benefit

2014 will be the nineteenth year in a row that Stevie Wonder has been partaking in the House Full of Toys Benefit Concert, this year taking place at the Forum in Inglewood on Dec. 20, mere days before Christmas hits.

Born in 1950 and a child prodigy, Stevland Hardaway Morris (or just Stevie Wonder) was signed with Motown’s Tamla label at just 11 years old. Despite being blind from a young age, he rightfully attained success and went on to record more than 30 U.S. top ten hits and receive 22 Grammy Awards, which is more than any other male solo artist. Wonder is also known for his political causes and charity work, the United Nations naming him a Messenger of Peace in 2009.

The Forum announced the “wonder”-ful gathering in late Oct., in which Stevie plans to perform every track off his classic double-album, “Songs in the Key of Life.” This is exactly what he did at last year’s benefit, so it has become a tradition.

This benefit show is created to collect and distribute unwrapped gifts for families in need during the holiday season. The event gets stronger and attracts more gifts with each coming year. Undoubtedly this has a lot to do with Wonder’s promoting and the performance itself, which in the past has featured performers such as Alicia Keys, Boney James, Babyface, Chaka Khan, Jamie Foxx, Justin Bieber, Corinne Bailey Rae and many more prominent names and faces in the household.

In addition to putting on this show and benefit, Wonder will also serve as the Grand Marshal of this year’s Hollywood Christmas Parade that is scheduled to take place on Nov. 30. Don’t miss your chance to buy tickets, as the concert will make for an unforgettable Christmas journey.
