Tim Burton’s Newest Biopic ‘Big Eyes’ Hits Theaters Christmas Day

Have you heard of painter Margaret Keane who experienced phenomenal success, only behind the guise of her husband? If not, prepare to learn in Tim Burton’s upcoming biopic masterpiece, “Big Eyes.”

Focusing on Margaret Keane (Amy Adams), viewers are brought into the world she thrived in, predominantly more against equal rights in the ‘50s and ‘60s but not vastly so. The film depicts the messy road Keane took with then-husband Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), who claimed the credit to her work because of the whole “men have more talent than women” mentality.

Margaret’s husband rose to stardom as he claimed to be the man behind the paintings of children with abnormally large eyes. His deception was to the point to where he pioneered a mass-production line of prints behind his wife’s back, which resulted in a nasty divorce battle fought for recognition and worth. All of this goes down in an epic courtroom showdown.

Steve Pond of The Wrap had to say about Burton’s work, “‘Big Eyes’ adds something of a change to his career. Gentler and less macabre than many of Burton’s films, ‘Big Eyes’ still played exceptionally well to the audience at LACMA’s Bing Theater.”

Working alongside Adams and Waltz is an eclectic cast composed of Krysten Ritter, Jason Schwartzman, Danny Huston, Terence Stamp and Jon Polito. Play the role of judge yourself this Christmas, but those eyes just may hold you prisoner.
