Eric Church and Dwight Yoakam to Play Staples Center

Los Angelenos will get a little taste of Nashville on January 23 when country superstar Eric Church and his special guest, legend Dwight Yoakam, come to the Staples Center. Church and Yoakam have been touring together on The Outsiders World Tour since September.

Signed to Los Angeles-based Capitol Records, Church broke through in 2006 with his debut album Sinners Like Me,  which produced four hit singles, including “How ‘Bout You,” “Two Pink Lines,” and “Guys Like Me.”  His fourth and most recent album, The Outsiders, was released in February of this year, and has also spawned four singles, including “Give Me Back My Hometown.”  Known as a country rocker, Church lists AC/DC and Metallica, in addition to country legends Hank Williams Jr. and Waylon Jennings, among his influences.

Dwight Yoakam has enjoyed a slightly longer career than Church; he came to fame in the early 1980s and has sold more than 25 million records.  Yoakam is also an actor, with memorable roles in films such as “Panic Room” and “Wedding Crashers.”  Other fun facts about Yoakam:  He has been a musical guest on “The Tonight Show” more than any other artist and he currently has his own food brand, Bakersfield Biscuits.

Earlier this year, Church graced the cover of the first ever Rolling Stones country issue.  In his interview, he described how he gets pumped up before each show.

“My favorite thing is to go out in the arenas like an hour before doors and run the concourse,” he told Patrick Doyle.  “And you get that anticipation. You smell the popcorn. You see the people tapping the kegs. And nobody is in there yet but you, but you feel it. It’s my favorite thing on tour.”
