L.A. Guns Are Ready to Rock Whiskey A Go Go

For almost 20 years, L.A. Guns have been bringing their rock to the Sunset Strip and like the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That is why they’re playing the Whiskey A Go Go on January 16.

Back in 1986, five friends created this hard rock band. In that time span, their line-up has been a revolving door. What started as a quintet has become a band of four. Only two original members are with them now, Phil Lewis and Steve Riley. Both took breaks between then and now, but are now back and alongside Michael Grant and Scott Griffin. Together they, as well as the cascade of other members who’ve come and gone, have released ten studio albums. Their latest is 2012’s “Hollywood Forever,” a testament to the city they were born and bred from. The place that’s seen every step of their almost two decade career.

Now they’ll be returning to their old stomping grounds playing Whiskey A Go Go, a staple on the Strip. Standing mere blocks from The Roxy and a bit of a walk from House of Blues, the Whiskey is widely known for its bare bones rock-n-roll appeal and it’s the perfect fit for L.A. Guns and the fan base they’ve continued to maintain and build throughout the years.

With no current plans to release any new music, fans can expect to know every work they sing that night. They’ll likely sprinkle the setlist with current licks from “Hollywood Forever” like the title track, “I Won’t Play” and “Araña Negra (Black Spider).” Old school fans will want to hear the something like “The Ballad of Jayne.”  The only way to find out what they’re doing is to head out though.

After they tear up the Whiskey, they’ll head to Nevada to play the Boomtown Hotel and Casino in Verdi. Then they’ll relax until early May when they head to Maryland for the M3 Festival where they’ll share the stage with bands like Warrant, Black N Blue and Rhino Bucket.
