Shaun White Airdogs into L.A. with Air & Style
Are they really holding a snowboarding competition in Pasadena? Yes, it’s true, the massive Air & Style competition, now in its 22nd year of operation, is coming to America for the first time. The mammoth event was founded in 1993, in Austria, by Andrew Hourmont and was the first Big Air snowboarding competition of its kind. Combining a massive snowboarding ramp, with live music in Olympic stadiums, Air & Style became a pioneer of modern sports entertainment. Since 1993, Air & Style has held 27 competitions in Austria, Germany and China drawing hundreds of thousands of fans to witness the awesome shows, in Innsbruck, Munich and Beijing.
Fast forward to 2015, and Shaun White, who may be America’s most well known snowboarding champion, has taken control of Air & Style and is bringing the spectacle to the United States, for the first time in its history. The colossal event will take place in the Rose Bowl Stadium, in Pasadena, on Feb. 21 and 22. In addition to the massive snow ramp offering up exciting competitions and featuring some of the best snowboarders and skiers in the world, the event will feature three stages of live music. The line up featuring multiple musical genres and includes headliners Kendrick Lamar and Steve Aoki. Saturday night Lamar will close the evening with his fiery brand of hip-hop. The Compton rapper may have been snubbed by the Grammys last year despite, seven nominations, but the young rapper in on a meteoric rise to stardom in 2015, already slated to headline some of the biggest music festivals in the country. Sunday night, Los Angeles EDM icon, Steve Aoki will close the show with what promises to be a spectacular performance. The Rose Bowl show falls in the midst of his Dim Mak Presents STEVE AOKI’S NEON FUTURE EXPERIENCE tour that supports his current album Neon Future I. Aoki is famous for his explosive live shows and surprise appearances by a small army of his musical friends over the years. The entire two-day line up also includes, Flaming Lips, Diplo, and over a dozen other popular acts.
