Mat Kearney and Parachute Team Up to Take Over The Wiltern

With a firm grip on the adult contemporary scene, Mat Kearney and Parachute are hitting the road together for a month long tour that will have them landing in Los Angeles on March 11 at The Wiltern.

Before Vh1 took notice of his songs like “Closer to Love” and “Hey Mama,” Mat Kearney was a run of the mill Oregon born boy with two brothers and a mother born of Irish descent. Growing up, and throughout college music wasn’t the only thing on his mind. He was quite the soccer player and played up until his junior year at Chico State University. Then a trip to Nashville changed his life and made him want to pursue music. He went on to release his debut, “Bullet,” in 2004 and then redid some of those songs a couple of years later on “Nothing Left to Lose.” That was smart because that record landed him spots on tours with John Mayer, Train, and Meiko.

Today he’s gearing up for the release of his newest album, “Just Kids.” Its lead single “Heartbeat” that was released late last year. To promote, Kearney is heading out with Parachute, fellow Vh1 hitmakers.

Parachute started in 2006 but didn’t burst onto the scene until 2009 when their infectious and inescapable single, “She Is Love,” took over the airwaves. Their debut “Losing Sleep” garnered them spots on tours alongside “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson and pop rock group Hot Chelle Rae. Their latest, “Overnight” dropped in 2013 and spawned “Can’t Help” which was written by Will Anderson and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. That song was initially for Cee Lo Green but Parachute got it in the end.

Along with Kearney and Parachute will be Nashville’s Judah & the Lion. They’re an Americana-folk band that released their debut, “Sweet Tennessee,” in 2013.

Together, all three artists will give the audience a night of singer-songwriter realness. It’s a nice of true musicianship as no processed pop will be on the stage, just true blue artists ready to give the crowd their all at The Wiltern and throughout the rest of the tour. The Just Kids Tour starts March 5 in Washington state and then heads down the coast to Los Angeles. It all winds down April 5 in Nashville.
