Elephant Revival to Folk Up The Roxy

Los Angeles is about to get all folked up when Elephant Revival‘s Spring tour stops at The Roxy on March 26.

When part of the group comes from Colorado and the others hail from Oklahoma, there are very few roads to travel musically. Country isn’t what this band is about, but it’s close with their folk ways. The band’s members first came together to make music in 2006. Later that year, the number had dwindled down to five and the band played their first official show at the Gold Hill Inn. Then they had an extra word in their name, but later dropped it to be just Elephant Revival. Thankfully, the name was all squared away by the time they recorded and dropped their self-titled debut in 2008.

A couple years later, the band moved from indies to signing with an independent label, Ruff Shod Records, and releasing “Break In The Clouds.” Since then they’ve continued to thrive in their element and have released two more records; 2012’s “It’s Alive” and their most recent, “These Changing Skies” from 2013.

When it comes to their live show, Elephant Revival does not disappoint. Each member brings a unique talent to the stage with many instruments being tossed into the entertainment ring. They have everything – washboard, djembe, musical saw, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, but surprisingly not the kitchen sink. Although, if they did have the kitchen sink – it would likely work and sound great. They have the amount of skill and audacity to make it sound great.

Joining Elephant Revival at The Roxy will be Rose’s Pawn Shop. They’re local to Los Angeles and have their own style when it comes to bluegrass and Americana with singles like “What Were You Waiting For” off their latest album, “Gravity Well.”
