Tame Impala Will Bring Psychedelia to The Fox Theater

Australia’s answer to the psychedelic rock of the 1970‘s, Tame Impala are making the rounds on this year’s festival circuit. With talks of a third album in the making, and months of touring under their belts, this may be the opportune moment to catch these musicians bring their reverb heavy, hypnotic groove rock to The Fox Theater April 8.

Tame Impala began as the brainchild of Perth’s Kevin Parker, Dom Simper, and Jay Watson. The trio has been making music together since they met in music class at the tender age of 13. After a few highly impressive MySpace uploads, Tame Impala caught the attention of and signed with Modular Recordings in 2008. Later that same year Tame Impala released their first self-titled EP and began touring in support of acts like The Black Keys, Yeasayer, and MGMT. The group began rising in popularity upon the release of their debut album, “Innerspeaker” in 2010.  Tame Impala took their album on the road and gained momentum by performing at Australia’s Big Day Out Festival alongside Muse, Kasabian, and Rise Against. In late 2011, Parker began mixing what would become the group’s sophomore album. “Lonerism” was released in 2012 and was met with dozens of critical accolades and with an even stronger fan base. A departure from their previous work, “Lonerism” featured an expanded sonic palette and more lyrically complex tracks. The album’s first single, “Elephant” became an international chart topper, and was featured in various films and ad campaigns, helping to bring in a slew of new fans.

A new song entitled “Let It Happen” appeared for free download in early March of this year furthering the rumors of the pending release of a third album later this year. Whatever the case may be, Tame Impala put on a great show and catching these Aussie’s live should be a must on your summer concert list.
