Madeon to Play The El Rey

Most 20-year-olds are in the middle of college and their biggest issue is where to spend spring break. That’s not the case for Madeon. He has bigger things on his plate like playing around the world, including Los Angeles at the El Rey on April 15.

Born Hugo Pierre Leclercq, he was merely 11-years-old when he started making music. With an early start, he composed under the name “Deamon” until 2010. That was the year he started producing house music and just rearranged the name of his initial moniker into what fans know him today as, Madeon. Two years later, he released his first EP, “The City.” The following year “Japan Only EP” dropped.

Throughout all this singles were coming out like 2012’s “Icarus” and later “Finale,” that was his first to chart in the US. To date “The City” has been his best showing on the US charts, landing at number 14. His current single “Nonsense” featuring Mark Foster is currently heating things up in the top 50. Even though those tracks date back a few years now, they could all be found on his debut album, “Adventure.”

When he’s not working on his own music, he’s working with one of the biggest pop stars out today – Lady Gaga. Yes, he’s worked with the one and only on her last album “Artpop.” He worked his magic on three of the hit albums,  “Venus,” “Gypsy” and “Mary Jane Holland.” He’s not only a master at doing his own thing, but shares the wealth and has proven to be as big as asset behind the scenes as he is center stage.

With “Adventure” dropping at the end of last month, Madeon is heading out on a 22-city North American tour that kicks off April 10 in San Francisco, California at The Warfield. He’ll make his way down the coast all the way to Mexico, work his way back up to Coachella and then to Los Angeles. Don’t worry, he’ll be at both weekends of the infamous music festival. He just has some other dates between the two weekends. After taking over North America, he’ll head home in July to play a couple of shows in France.
