The Orwells Hit The Echo

The Orwells are a group of five childhood friends making some of the most energetic rock and roll this side of Chicago. With a sound that is equal parts garage punk and blues drenched, The Orwells’ sound is a refreshing departure from the mainstream.

Formed back in 2009, The Orwells consist of cousins Mario Cuomo and Dominic Corso, twin brothers Henry and Grant Brinner and family friend Matt O’Keefe. Coming together as an after school club of sorts,  and their musical chemistry became immediately apparent. The band was discovered by Aquarium Drunkard Blogger Justin Gage, who fell in love with the group’s sound and signed them to his own label, Autumn Tone Imprint in 2011. Just a year later The Orwells released their debut album “Remember When” followed by their first EP, “Other Voices”, and the group’s high school graduation in 2013. Named one of MTV’s most criminally overlooked artists in 2012, The Orwells have had no lack of support from various musical outlets. Positive reviews from Pitchfork and other publications as well as performances on the Late Show with David Letterman, Lollapalooza, and tours alongside The Arctic Monkeys have all helped the band of five gain enough traction to release their sophomore work, “Disgraceland” in June of 2014.

These group of suburban Chicago rockers has something to prove, and their live shows are helping them do it. If energetic punk, broken guitar strings, and on-stage antics sound like the rock show of your dreams, put The Orwells at the top of your summer concert list.
