Panda Bear to Beat Up The Roxy

Panda Bear, or Noah Lennox, has been making inspired synth-pop since his start with the cult favorite group Animal Collective. This experimental musician has been releasing solo work from as early as 1999, and recently dropped his latest album “Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper” in early 2015. With several festival performances around the corner, we suggest fans take the opportunity to see this mix master take the stage at The Roxy.

Panda Bear’s self-titled debut album was released in 1999 to critical acclaim. Animal Collective’s touring and recording schedule made it difficult for Lennox to record a follow up record until 2004 with “Young Prayer.” The two albums served as a springboard for his solo career and provided enough backing for his third and most well known album, “Person Pitch” in 2007. Rarely spending more than a few hours writing each song, Panda Bear has a pension for getting his ideas down quickly, his tracks reflecting this energy and feverishness. Material from his next work, 2011’s “Tomboy” was being played years before, even making an appearance on stage with No Age in Miami back in 2008. Followed by multiple song releases, EPs, and guest appearances on others tracks; most notably on the Daft Punk’s “Doin’ it Right” on their Grammy Award Winning album “Random Access Memories,” The tease of the last few years was ended upon the release of Lennox’s fifth record, “Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper” back in January of this year.

Well, Panda Bear seems to be doin’ something right, after years with Animal Collective his solo career is nothing to scoff at. His unique blend of sounds and visually stunning live performances truly make him a must see new age artist. Catch Lennox fresh off his weekend one Coachella set, it may hold you over to next festival season.
