Join Mary Poppins for an uplifting magical experience at the Fred Kavli Theatre in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Bringing local and touring theatre groups to their stage, the Civic Arts Plaza is one of the major theatrical houses in the San Fernando Valley. Housing the theatrical productions for Cabrillo Music Theatre, Mary Poppins marks their season’s third show of the 2014-2015 season. A non-profit theatre organization, Cabrillo Music Theatre is the winner of the Resident Musical Theatre Production Company Ovation Award. Bringing theatre to the people of Ventura and Los Angeles County for over three decades, Cabrillo has opened their doors to local talent as well as a wide variety of educational outreach opportunities.

Based on the children’s books by P.L. Travers and the beloved movie from 1964 starring Julie Andrews, the timeless story of Mary Poppins is also a Tony Award winning Musical. Heavily driven with music and lyrics by the Sherman Brothers, as well as George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, the musical opened in London on the West End in 2005, eventually making it to Broadway in 2007. With the use of magical elements combined with the flexibility of story-telling dancers, you’ll find yourself on top of a roof sweeping the floor with your tapping feet.

Join the cast ‘up where the air is clear’ in their tribute to the classic story that never looses its charm. In addition to the performances, Cabrillo is hosting ‘A Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Evening with Richard M. Sherman & Friends’ on April 17 at 7 p.m., where you can join the mastermind legend as he shares his stories behind the greatest Disney hits.
