The Moody Blues Will Invade Greek Theatre

The Moody Blues have been pioneers in the concept rock arena since 1964. Getting their start as one of the original British invasion bands in the early 60s, the lineup has seen some changes but the music has stayed as good as it was 51 years ago. The Moody Blues have proved themselves a classic rock staple, with 16 studio albums and singles like “Nights in White Satin.”

The Moody Blues formed in Birmingham, Warwickshire on May 4, 1964. Flautist Ray Thomas, bass guitarist John Lodge and keyboardist Mike Pinder were all members of the group El Riot & the Rebels, which disbanded early on when Lodge decided to enroll in technical college and Pinder joined the army. After both careers had run their course Pinder rejoined Thomas to form the Krew Cats. The pair then recruited guitarist Denny Laine, manager turned drummer Graeme Edge and new bassist Clint Warwick effectively creating the original lineup now known as The Moody Blues. The group took up residency at the Carlton Ballroom, now rock music venue Mothers on Erdington High Street, and eventually landing a recording contract with Decca in 1964.  Releasing their debut album “The Magnificent Moodies” in 1965 and subsequently their most famous work, 1967’s “Days of Future’s Passed” with Decca. The fourteen studio albums that followed produced some of music’s most beloved songs, from “Tuesday Afternoon,” to “I’m Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)” and “Nights in White Satin,” one of the biggest selling singles in history.

Their unique and innovative blend of classical, rock and roll and psychedelia have kept the band going for 51 years despite lineup changes, creative battles and management disagreements. Selling more than 70 million albums worldwide, and having been awarded with 14 platinum and gold discs, The Moody Blues show no sign of stopping now. Currently on a worldwide reunion tour, now is the time to catch these concept boys of rock take the stage.
