OK Go Will Hit The Wiltern For Their Spring Tour

Just as music videos were becoming a thing of yesterday, one band managed to make them a must-watch event. OK Go made a name for themselves with videos that got everyone talking and this band continues to set the bar. Now they’re going from the screen to the stage and heading out for a spring tour with White Arrows.

Before they were even teens, OK Go’s singer Damian Kulash, met bassist Tim Nordwind at an arts camp. A friendship was born and they managed to keep in touch with letters and the exchanges of mixtapes. The other members were found in high school and college and by 1998, the band was born. Since then they have released four albums, including their latest, 2014’s “Hungry Ghosts.”

While their alternative rock ways have kept them trucking, their longevity has a lot to do with the way they’ve managed to be hot topics with their videos and they’ve hit high numbers in views, despite tight budgets. They caused the most waves in 2006 when they jumped around and impressed the masses on treadmills in “Here It Goes Again.” It even spawned many parodies; even “The Simpsons” did their own version. Making it to Springfield is the pinnacle of pop culture. They also took home a Grammy for that video as well. From that point on, the bar was set and they’ve had to try to keep up with their image. They’ve used green screens, marching bands and even wallpaper since then.

Their videos are must-see events, but that’s not to say they can’t hang live. Many who see OK Go once, have to see them repeatedly because they bring a high-energy performance each time and give fans favorites like “You’re So Damn Hot” and “I’m Not Through.”

OK Go plays The Wiltern May 2. Tickets can be purchased here.
