For one night only, The Container Yard, a creative space in downtown Los Angeles, will transform into Artopia, a celebration of arts and culture in Los Angeles presented by LA Weekly. Artopia will take place April 30, from 8 – 11 p.m.
Art, music, food, mixology, and general merriment will happen at this year’s Artopia, an event curated by art critic Shana Nys Dambrot.
“My vision for Artopia this year continues and expands on the theme of interactivity, immersion, and experience that animated the 2014 edition — but this year, with a little more peace and love in the mix,” Nys Dambrot explained to LA Weekly.
Artopia will feature the works of a wide range of local artists, including Victor Wilde, founder of the fashion and lifestyle label The Bohemian Society. The Bohemian Society just released Sex Tape, which is actually not a recording of any kind but a fragrance that is meant to evoke “haunting memories of the wildest night of your life.”
Pasadena teacher and farmer Mud Baron will also be at Artopia. Baron oversees a hands-on teaching farm, Muir Ranch, which produces fruits, vegetables, and flowers. His exhibit #Flowersonyourhead will feature striking photos he took of friends and strangers posing with his flowers on their heads.
Also on display will be Debi Cable’s stunning hand painted fluorescent 3D murals. With her signature Black Light 3D Glasses, the images transform into 3D masterpieces.
Also at Artopia will be performances artists Amy Kaps and Marcus Kuiland-Nazario, the paintings of Mikael B. and Wyatt Mills, graffiti art by Robert “Dytch 66” Gomez, and much, much more.
For all your food needs, some of L.A.’s hottest food trucks, such as Border Grill and Kogi, will be on hand serving up delicious entrees and snacks.
Artopia will also feature an “Art of Mixology” program that will feature handcrafted cocktails by Ben Scott from the Parisian-themed Hollywood lounge Pour Vous.
Artopia 2015 will take place at The Container Yard in DTLA April 30. Tickets can be purchased here.
