Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine has become one of the world’s most beloved singers since the group’s formation in London in 2007. Shortly after an inebriated Welsh cornered current manager, Mairead Nash, in the restroom and sang her Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold on Me,” The Machine had a record deal. The group’s debut studio album “Lungs” was released in July of 2009 held the number two position on the UK Albums chart for five weeks before taking the top spot after being on the chart for twenty-eight consecutive weeks.

Florence and the Machine’s ability to mix rock and soul with breathtaking vocals was picked up quickly, and even won them the best new artist award at the 53rd annual Grammy’s that same year.  The group’s second studio album “Ceremonials” was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and released in late 2011 with the help of legendary English producer, Paul Epworth. The result was a darker, heavier, and lusher sound that helped cement Florence and the Machine’s place as one of today’s most innovative bands. After an extensive tour in the United States, The Machine took some time off and returned to the studio to record was to become their third studio album.

“How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” was officially released on June 2. The lead single, “What Kind of Man” shows once again that Florence is constantly evolving and surprising fans. Florence and the Machine will no doubt captivate audiences on their latest tour.
