PPLA Food Fare Celebrates 50 Years With Gastronomic Festival

The annual fundraiser for Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, Food Fare began with a cooking demonstration led by legendary chef Julia Child in 1979 and has since become one of the premier culinary fundraisers in Los Angeles. In 2015, Food Fare raised over $850,000 for PPLA. This year, PPLA will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary, making the event extra special.

Among the 150 vendors who will participate at this event are L.A.’s most popular restaurants including AOC, Ayara Thai Cuisine, Akasha, Angelini OSTERIA, Border Grill, Craft, Drago Centro, Jar restaurant, Starry Kitchen, Rose Café and many more. When the savory fare is devoured, end on a sweet note with desserts from Beachy Cream or Salt & Straw among others. The continuous flow of drinks is courtesy of Angel City Brewery, Golden Road Brewing, Greenbar Craft Distillery, Kikori Whiskey, Wally’s Wine and Spirits, Ventura Limoncello Company to name a few. PPLA has also chosen their very first Restaurateur of the Year and the honor goes to Jenny Rush of Blue Plate Restaurant Group. She’ll prepare a special tasting menu for the VIP reception exclusively for sponsors.

As is tradition at Food Fare, there will be plenty of vendors that offer guests the opportunity to browse and shop in between bites for everything from handbags and artwork to jewelry and pajamas. You can also participate in the raffle and silent auction to win a one-of-a-kind travel package or culinary and wine experiences along with collectible wines.

Food Fair features two sessions: the daytime session taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the evening session from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets for the morning session are $150 per person while the evening session, which features more restaurants, is $250. The proceeds benefit PPLA’s health care and education initiatives offered at 20 health centers in L.A. County.

PPLA Food Fare will be on March 3 at Barker Hangar. Tickets can be purchased using this link.
