Marvel Creates Another Epic Battle With ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

What we know for sure is that nowadays moviegoers can’t begin their summer without at least a handful of superhero flicks. Batman and Superman have already battled it out in their respective movies that broke records and subsequently (and some say unnecessarily) battled each other in a joint film, to fans’ dismay. Next came “Captain America: Civil War,” which in many ways salvaged superhero movies for the industry bringing back a solid plot and tight action; and next up, the Marvel universe will continue to expand as “X-Men: Apocalypse” lands in theaters and tries to outperform previous films and play up to its hype with audiences far and wide.

Is there never a day where doom doesn’t threaten the X-Men? Apparently not. Last time, the crew was forced to fight time and now they’re taking on what appears to be their biggest nemesis yet – Apocalypse. Played by the surprise fan-favorite from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” Oscar Isaac is almost unrecognizable as what fans are told is the first mutant ever to exist. Being the original, he has a pretty big ego and even bigger plans to take out the X-Men with his own band of special characters: Magneto, Storm, Psylocke and Angel. Apocalypse along with his four horsemen are out for blood and they’ll stop at nothing to get what they want.

Most of the X-Men that fans have come to know and love are back at it once again. Jennifer Lawrence is never a let down as Mystique; her former real-life beau Nicholas Hoult is again causing damage as Beast; Michael Fassbender plays the always plotting Magento and, of course, the scene stealer from the last “X-Men,” Evan Peters is Quicksilver. Word is that he was such a hit in the last film that producers and writers went back and added more of his character to the upcoming “Apocalypse” movie to appease the fans. Action-packed fights, a little bit of drama, a crop of new creatures and a script with an actual plot, “X-Men: Apocalypse” is sure to live up to the hype and be the next enjoyable chapter in this ongoing franchise.

X-Men: Apocalypse” opens everywhere May 27.
