Grouplove Gives Fans a True Rock Show at Hollywood Palladium

On Friday night, a sold-out crowd anxiously awaited LA based indie rock band Grouplove to appear at Hollywood Palladium. Led by partners Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi, parents of a newborn child, the performers jumped into the spotlight, pumping up the roaring crowd. With green hair, heavily distressed jeans, and a white dress underneath his oversized green parka, Zucconi was looking more eccentric than ever. Hooper confidently sported pink hair and a tight white dress and these two came ready to rock.

Grouplove kicked off the night with “I’m With You” off of their “Spreading Rumors album. As they thrashed their heads from side to side, the energy from the hometown crowd fueled the rock and roll frenzy taking place on stage. Prior to performing their hit song, “Tongue Tied,” they took a moment to thank the crowd. “We would have never been able to get here without all of you,” Hooper said. “This right here, this is Grouplove.” Throughout the set, the Palladium floor trembled with thousands of energetic fans dancing and moving in all directions as the band went on to play their biggest hits including “Ways to Go,” “Colours,” and the most recent single off their “Big Mess” album, “Welcome to Your Life,” which was written for Hooper and Zucchini’s new baby girl, Willa.

The new parents’ chemistry seemed to be much more noticeable on stage, with the pair constantly locking eyes and singing to one another, while dancing wildly around, seemingly having the most fun of anyone at the concert. All in all, this Grouplove show was exactly what fans paid for: a high energy, head banging, sing-along concert with two of the most exciting vocalists in music. Not a single person left the venue without a smile on their face. By the end of the night, the Palladium was one big mess.

Grouplove appeared at the Hollywood Palladium Oct. 7.
