Del Mar’s Music, Comedy, Art, and Culinary Event KAABOO Announces Red Hot Chili Peppers, P!NK, Tom Petty, Muse and More for 2017

KAABOO is a quintessentially SoCal festival. Organizers have even thought of several ways to incorporate the San Diego “lifestyle” directly into the festival itself. From Sept. 15-17, KAABOO will showcase a great selection of radio mainstays along with some traditionally San Diego festivities. Taking place at the Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds, KAABOO is right on the oceanfront, allowing fans to take in that perfect California sunset each evening.

The 2017 lineup is rife with well-known acts: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, P!NK, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and Muse all take the top headlining spots for the weekend, followed closely by Weezer, David Guetta, Ice Cube and Jane’s Addiction. KAABOO has really found a way to mix artists from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with stars from today, made even more clear by the rest of the bill. Jason Derulo, Logic Kesha, X Ambassadors, T-Pain, Andy Grammar, Milky Chance and Machine Gun Kelly will all play alongside blasts from the past like Michael McDonald, Smash Mouth, Alanis Morissette, Jackson Browne, Līve, Garbage, The Wallflowers, Toad the Wet Sprocket and Pete Yorn. More underground acts will be represented as well in the form of LANY, Le Youth, The Motet, Pepper, The Knocks, The Stone Foxes, Time Flies, Lost Kings and Fishbone. And while they’re at it, why not throw Shaquille O’Neal, a.k.a. DJ Diesel in the mix as well?

There’s a ton of diverse options when looking at the rest of what KAABOO has to offer – from comedy and food, to art and other indulgences too. Though specifics have yet to be announced, last year’s organizers brought in some of the most prolific chefs, talented artists and comedians, including a few Saturday Night Live alumni to delight fans.

KAABOO markets itself as a festival immune to the pain-in-the-rear normalcies of most festivals: i.e. questionable port-o-potties and sweaty camping. They instead vow to provide amenities such as shaded lounge areas and even a masseuse. Now when it comes to hotels, KAABOO does offer fee-free access to bookings through their website, though options are fairly limited to corporate lodgings. If you’re looking for a more boutique feel, check out what the city of San Diego has to offer. Urban Boutique Hotel in Little Italy is one of the premieres. With a European-inspired design, this downtown accommodation is the best of old-world sensibilities and modern amenities. In sticking with the modern theme, Andaz in the city’s historic and lively Gaslamp District is a true gem. Contemporary, chic and featuring a stunning rooftop pool and lounge, Andaz is an excellent place to recharge after a long day of festivities. Also in the Gaslamp, and also with an amazing rooftop lounge, is Hotel Indigo. This environmentally friendly hotel is even pet-friendly, that is if your furry friend is into great hotels.

KAABOO will take place from Sept. 15-17 at Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds in Del Mar. Tickets can be found here.
