Kendrick Lamar, The Killers, The Chainsmokers to Headline Hangout Music Fest 2018

Alabama’s own Hangout Music Festival will be taking place May 18-20 in Gulf Shores and have announced their 2018 lineup. Hangout will feature a lineup filled with hip-hop, electronic and indie acts from all over the world.

This three-day event literally takes pace on the sand, allowing fans the chance to swim in the ocean moments before they catch their favorite act on a massive stage with thousands of people. Much like Coachella, each night of this extended weekend offers a special headliner. Friday will find The Killers on the main stage. These Vegas natives will bring live cuts from their latest album, the funky “Wonderful Wonderful,” the first album of theirs to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart. This set will come weeks after the final date of their “Wonderful Wonderful World Tour.” The young Russian producer Zedd will also perform Friday night. His electro-house hits have lately included vocalists Ariana Grande and Alessia Cara. Portugal the Man dropped “Woodstock” over the summer which spawned the single “Feel It Still,” their highest charting single to-date in the U.S. Galantis, Cold War Kids, Blackbear, Oh Wonder, Pussy Riot and Ron Gallo will perform on opening night as well.

On Saturday, things will stay on the electronic side, as far as the headliner goes anyway, with The Chainsmokers taking the top spot. The duo has seen immense success with their most recent LP “Memories…Do Not Open” which was certified platinum and subsequently saw them sign an extended residency deal with Wynn Nightlife in Las Vegas. Joining the fun on Saturday will be Halsey, the alt-pop giant who also saw a great boost in her career after the release of “hopeless fountain kingdom” this year. Rapper Logic will bring his witty rhymes to the beach, alongside Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, St. Vincent, Grouplove, Bleachers, Manchester Orchestra, Cashmere Cat, Tanks and the Bangas, San Holo and Skip Marley.

Finally on Sunday, and with possibly the most sought after set of the weekend, will be none other than Kendrick Lamar, the undisputed king of hip-hop. “DAMN.” was of course his latest effort, an album that produced hits like “HUMBLE.” and “DNA.,” the former which became the Compton rapper’s first number one hit single as a solo artist. Odesza, the Seattle-bred chillwave duo, found more mainstream success with their newest LP “A Moment Apart” which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart. Leaving the West coast for the Midwest, St. Louis’ SZA will take the stage on the final night as well. The soulful R&B singer and Kendrick Lamar label-mate recently announced that her upcoming album will be in collaboration with famed producer Mark Ronson and Aussie psych-rock outfit Tame Impala. Sunday will also feature Foster the People, AWOLNATION, Slightly Stoopid, Getter, Lil Pump, The Struts, Whethan and Poolside, among others.

Hangout Music Festival will take place May 18 – May 20, 2018 in Gulf Shores, AL.
