Where to Dine at NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2018
New York City Restaurant Week returns for its 2018 winter season on Jan. 22 – Feb. 9 (Saturdays excluded). There are more than 370 restaurants participating this season across five boroughs and the restaurants will be offering a prix-fixe lunch for $29 per person and/or $42 dinners.
The approachable price point makes Restaurant Week a great opportunity to try restaurants from celebrity chefs and the website makes it easy for diners to browse the list under the “Notable Chef” section. Some of these restaurants include Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s Morimoto NY, David Chang’s Momofuku Nishi and Má Pêche, Michael White’s Vaucluse, the Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Junoon, Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster in Harlem, David Burke Kitchen, Gotham Bar and Grill, Jean-Georges ABC Kitchen and more. The regular lunch three-course prix-fixe menu at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Nougatine at Jean Georges costs $38, making the $29 Restaurant Week pricing quite the deal and the $42 dinner even more so.
For New Yorkers who want to head to restaurants with a happening scene, there are Catch NYC, Tao (both Uptown and Downtown), Vandal and Beauty and Essex. Impress someone with sweeping views of the city at One Dine atop One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. To top it off, the Restaurant Week meal also includes admission to the One World Observatory, which typically costs $34 per person.
Almost all possible cuisines are represented among the participating restaurants. Try one of the city’s best khao soi and Thai style baby back ribs and Pig and Khao, or grab tacos from Empellon Taqueria. There’s Danny Bowien’s unique take on American-Chinese cuisine at Mission Chinese, modern Middle Eastern cooking at Taboon, and Japanese food from kaiseki specialist Suzuki.
With well over three hundred restaurants spread across New York City, there are more than enough options to dine out for every lunch and dinner during the 18 days of the dining deal. American Express card holders can get 5x reward points when they use their American Express cards to dine out during Restaurant Week.
