Flume to Perform Three Sold Out Shows at Club Nokia August 8th, 9th, & 11th

It seems like there is a prerequisite to be young, fresh-faced, and hip to be considered a heavyweight in the alternative EDM community nowadays. With the Disclosure brothers at 20 and 23-years-old and Avicii at 24-years-old dominating the festival circuit, Harley Edward Streten aka Flume is no exception to the rule. The 22-year-young Australian producer has been nothing less than a wunderkind in the electronic dance community over the past few years. He got his start making music at the age of thirteen by finding a basic production program CD inside a Nutri-Grain cereal box and never looked back.

In 2011 he sent in “Sleepless,” “Over You,” and “Paper Thin” for an original artist music competition by Future Classic, the Sydney based electronic and house label, and won it. Those three songs would later appear on the 2011 EP titled Sleepless, which contains catchy and atmospheric slow burners that imbue a perfect blend of organic and electronic textures reminiscent of Flying Lotus.

Since the release of his 2012 self titled debut album, Flume via label Future Classic has garnered accolades from music publications and fans worldwide. He won Best Independent Artist, Best Independent Album, Best Independent Dance/Electronica Album, and Best Independent Dance/Electronica Single for the 2013 AIR Awards. He also won Best Dance Release, Best Male Artist, Producer of the Year, and Breakthrough Artist-Release for the 2013 ARIA Music Awards. As if that wasn’t enough, he even managed to dethrone One Direction from the coveted #1 spot on the iTunes album charts.

His debut featured collaborations with prominent singers such as MC T.Shirt, Jezzabell Doran, and Chet Faker. Mixing elements of indie rock, R&B pop, pulsing synths, and bombastic drum beats, Flume captures a dreamy and groovy atmosphere in each dance track. His music transcends all genres and could easily be played at a summer beach party as well as a lonesome night in a snow-covered cabin. With chopped vocals and celestial synth drones aplenty, he evokes a feeling of weightlessness.

And success seems to follow Flume. After releasing “Jaguar” on Soundcloud, it got over 15,000 plays in a matter of four hours, and he is also working on a side project titled “What So Not” with Sydney producer Emoh Instead.

Flume is touring internationally in 2014 and is playing a three-night run at Club Nokia on August 8, 9, and 11.
