RAC and The Knocks have teamed up for the “Something Classic Tour,” which features the live vocals of Karl Kling, Pink Feathers, Speak and more. They will be lighting up the stage at the Fonda Theatre for an unforgettable performance on Nov. 14.
Founded and initially coordinated by André Allen Anjos of Porto, Portugal, in 2007, RAC impressively involved into what it is today: a group of international members who distribute their rock and electronic remixed take on popular music. Anjos has many years of remixing, producing, and song-writing under his belt, now known as RAC’s “most prolific remix artist,” having constructed many of the tracks himself. A 1982 Roland Juno-60 and 1973 Univox MiniKorg is exactly what gives Anjos, and ultimately RAC, his signature sound. He has also been known to tweak around with analog tape machine for certain added effects.
RAC’s first release was a rendition of “Sleeping Lessons” from The Shins, which earned the remix a spot on the band’s B-Side for “Australia.” That mix is exactly what put RAC on the map, gaining interest from other groups such as Ra Ra Riot, Bloc Party and Tokyo Police Club. Since then, RAC has established a solid foundation of remixes for songs by a variety of artists including Death Cab for Cutie, Phoenix, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings of Leon, Lana Del Rey, Two Door Cinema Club, Foster the People, Surfer Blood and Washed Out. RAC recently released album “Strangers,” which features artists Tegan and Sara, Katie Herzig and St. Lucia.
The Knocks consist of electronic music duo Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson. Since 2007, they have been creating their own music as well as collaborating with artists like Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Flo Rida and Ellie Goulding for mesmerizing remixes.
The duo is prominently known for their singles “Make it Better” and “Dancing with the DJ,” while their cover of M83’s “Midnight City” earned 10,000 downloads in its first week alone. On Aug. 12 the Knocks released new single “Classic,” which features female singer Powers.
Together, RAC and The Knocks bring the utmost unique repertoire of remixed music for the past decade. It will feel as though you’re at Coachella or EDC, but from the comfort of your very own city and sans the tricky camping experience.
RAC will be performing with The Knocks at the Fonda Theatre Nov. 14. A limited quantity of tickets can be found here.
