Sam Hunt Brings Country to the Troubadour

From college football star to country star, Sam Hunt has always been on the top of his game. After a few years of penning hits for other country superstars and developing his artistry, Hunt released his first studio album, “Montevallo” in Oct. 2014. With his album hitting the US Country chart at No.1, Hunt is hitting the road on “The Lipstick Graffiti Tour,” spending a night at The Troubadour on January 29.

Growing up in a small southern town in Georgia, Hunt looks similar to many country singers. But with a focus on sports through his upbringing and even getting a few head nods from the NFL after college, Hunt chose to move to Nashville and discover himself as a musician a little later in life. With highly acclaimed skills as a writer, Hunt began his experimentation by writing singles for top country musicians, further developing his ear for the sound he hoped to create. After writing and co-writing singles that went on to be recorded by Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban, their success on the charts had Hunt playing with his own music.

Hunt didn’t choose country as a genre for his focus. He instead took all of his influences from childhood ranging from Brad Paisley to Usher to find his voice. Soon after moving to Nashville, Hunt signed a recording deal with MCA Nashville, which pushed him to record and release at a rapid pace. With intermittent rap and pop elements in his recently released album, Hunt has developed a fan base exceeding country alone.

Hoping to embrace the country style while simultaneously expanding on the typical clichés of dirt roads and whiskey, Hunt’s personal style embodies a little bit of everything, which will be seen at all of his infamous, often sold-out live performances. Joining Sam Hunt at The Troubadour is the acoustic country duo, Native Run. Releasing their EP in 2014, Native Run is on the rise of musically driven country. With a sound featuring prodigious skill on guitar, mandolin, and banjo, Native Run’s music is easily likable and memorable.
