Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull Bring Their Latin Flare to Staples Center
The biggest names in Latin pop are coming to the Staples Center. Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull will be there on February 13, 2015.
There is no denying that when it comes to Spanish speaking artists in the mainstream realm that Iglesias and Pitbull are top-notch. One has been doing it for years and the other seems to be in every other song on the radio today. It’s not surprising they’d team up and head out on tour.
During the mid-90s, Iglesias started out his career, but it wasn’t until the end of the decade that his career took a turn that would undoubtedly change his life forever. Will Smith asked him to contribute to the “Wild, Wild West” soundtrack and “Bailamos” was born. It was one of the most played and talked about songs of 1999 and made him a bonafide crossover hit. He, along with Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez were at the helm of that Latin invasion that year and since then he’s gone on to sell over 120 million records to date.
Joining Iglesias on stage will be Pitbull, the most inescapable man in music right now. It’s hard to imagine a world when he wasn’t in every song singing lead or being featured, but there was such a time. It wasn’t until 2002 when he was on Lil Jon’s “Kings of Crunk” album. A couple of years later his debut record “M.I.A.M.I” was released and it was only up from there, his biggest hit being 2004’s “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho).” Last year marked album number eight with “Globalization.”
Apart they are each a bundle of energy, so it’s only going to multiply when they hit the road together. Iglesias has the charisma and charm with his more upbeat hits like “Rhythm Divine” and “I Like It” featuring his tour mate. He can also slow it down and make the ladies swoon with his smash “Hero.” Pitbull on the other hand is a firecracker when he performs. He’s been a mainstay on awards shows for years now and he can make a crowd move within seconds.
