Laughter is Approaching with Brian Posehn’s Hollywood Improv Show
The man who claims to have been so unpopular growing up he had imaginary bullies instead of friends has come a long way. From no one by his side to a legion of fans that have accumulated over the years from his stand-up shows to his comic books, Brian Posehn is doing quite well for himself. That’s why he’s a must-see at the Hollywood Improv on April 25 with not one but two shows that night.
Almost 50-years-old, Posehn has done a lot with his time on Earth but he’s not quite done. Born and raised in Sacramento, he stayed there throughout college and made his way down the coast to the bright lights of Los Angeles in the early ‘90s. That’s when his career started to a slow boil. Like many trying to make it, he took bit parts but was in some of the best movies and TV shows that decade had to offer like Adam Sandler’s “The Wedding Singer” and the untouchable sitcom “Friends.” Nevertheless, it was a foot in the door and he managed to continue to work his way up and winded up on almost 30 episodes of HBO’s “Mr. Show with Bob and David.” Between then and landing on “The Sarah Silverman Program” in 2007, his life as a stand-up started to really gain traction. He got his first “Comedy Central Presents” special in 2002 and has been performing ever since, all the while still acting, doing voiceover work on shows like “Bob’s Burgers” and co-writing “Deadpool” comics for Marvel.
Fans of his stand-up like his nonchalant way with words and how hard he can be, at times, on himself. In addition, he’s a heavy metal fan and not afraid to highlight both that and his nerdiness when he’s on stage, and he’s never one to shy away from a fart joke. That’s obvious from his albums “Fart and Wiener Jokes” and his most recent, “The Fartist.”
Brian Posehn hits the Hollywood Improv for two shows on April 25. Tickets can be purchased here.
