American Indie Folk Band Lord Huron to Play The Wiltern

American Indie Folk band, Lord Huron, has been making waves since their debut album “Lonesome Dreams” in 2012. Gaining national attention following their appearance on The Tonight Show, the quartet has been hard at work putting together their latest work “Strange Trails,” released earlier this year. With an international tour ahead of them, Angelenos should take advantage of catching these folksters at The Wiltern.

Lord Huron originally began as the solo project of founding member Ben Schneider, who started writing songs as a teen in his hometown of Okemos, Michigan. He pursued a degree in visual art at the University of Michigan that allowed him to finish his schooling in France and upon graduation, Schneider landed in New York to become a fulltime working artist. In 2005, Schneider made the decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue music. His solo project took on the name Lord Huron in 2010 in homage to Lake Huron, the lake where Schneider spent his summers playing music around a campfire. Recording several EPs before considering adding members, Schneider eventually began recruiting friends to play in his live shows, friends that would sure enough become active members in the group. Consisting of mostly old childhood friends, Lord Huron began to take shape; with Ben Schneider and Tom Renaud on guitar, Mark Barry on drums, Miguel Briseño on bass and keyboards they released “Lonesome Dreams” in 2012. Three years of writing, touring and production have finally come to fruition with 2015’s follow up record, “Strange Trails.”

A different kind of folk band, Lord Huron’s live performances will energize you instead of making you want to fall asleep on a haystack. A little more country than rock, fans of the genre will welcome the group’s danceable tracks.

Lord Huron will take the stage at The Wiltern May 16. Tickets available here.
