Warrant, everyone’s favorite glam metal band is returning to their roots on the Sunset Strip! Causing whiplash since 1984, Warrant has been a local Hollywood legend and staple since their inception over 30 years ago. The boys complete with a revamped lineup, are primed and ready to take back the strip that made them famous, catch them set Whisky A Go Go on fire May 15.
Warrant was formed in 1984 by guitarists Erik Turner and Joey Allen, Singer Adam Shore (replaced by Jani Lane), drummer Max Asher, guitarist Josh Lewis and bassist Jerry Dixon. The glam band played local Hollywood clubs and became well known on the cities infamous Sunset Strip. Opening for the likes of Hurricane and Ted Nugent, until they were able to release their debut album, “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich,” in 1989. The record was a huge success, going double platinum, charting at number 10 on the Billboard charts and generating four hit singles including the memorable power ballad, “Heaven.” Warrant became an almost overnight success, helping popularize the now emulated glam rock look; the group was on the fast track to stardom. The momentum behind Warrant only grew following their tour alongside rock giants of the time, Paul Stanley, Mötley Crüe and Poison. Their sophomore record, “Cherry Pie” followed shortly after in 1990. The album’s title track and first single shot right to the top of the American Singles chart. Lead Singer Jani Lane, in true rock and roll fashion famously went on to marry Bobbie Brown, the model featured in the track’s music video. The critically acclaimed Gold album, “Dog Eat Dog” proved to be the end. Despite the multiple lineup changes and drop in popularity due to the rise of the grunge genre, Warrant kept afloat and released “Ultraphobic” in 1995.
Attempting to keep up with the times they released the grunge inspired “Belly to Belly” the following year, eventually making it back to their original sound by the end of the decade. The trials and tribulations of the 2000s proved too much for the group to bear, causing lead singer Jani Lane to leave the group in 2004. Fans did not have to wait long before their prayers for a reunion were answered; a short four years later Lane confirmed his return to the band in celebration of their 20-year anniversary. Warrant is still going strong, despite Jani’s passing in 2011. The group’s 30-year legacy is kept alive by ex-Lynch Mob vocalist, Robert Mason.
