Peter Frampton Shows You the Way at Greek Theatre

Peter Frampton has been a staple in classic rock since his beginnings as the guitarist in famed English group, Humble Pie. With seventeen studio albums and millions of records sold, Frampton’s lyricism and skill are highly discussed commodities. With the release of 2014’s “Hummingbird in a Box,” Frampton is back on the road and ready to serve up his signature guitar licks live at the Greek Theatre.

Peter’s interest in music began at a young age, when by chance he stumbled upon his grandmother’s banjolele (think banjo meets ukulele) in the attic of his family’s home. The seven-year-old Frampton taught himself to play and by the age of eight had convinced his parents to enroll him in classical lessons. Peter was influenced by great rock acts like Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, found like-minded classmates and was able to form his first band, The Little Ravens. Both Frampton and David Bowie attended Bromley Technical School; the two became friends and discussed music during their lunch breaks, vowing to become rock stars. Frampton’s shot came in 1969 when he was asked by Steve Marriott of The Small Faces to play lead guitar in his new group Humble Pie. The 18-year-old Peter accepted and remained an integral part of the group through four studio albums, until he left to go solo in 1971. Frampton released records for a few years but did not see international success until his live album, “Frampton Comes Alive” in 1976, which sold over six million copies.

Since then he has written and recorded several landmark albums and spawned such hits as “Show Me The Way,” “Baby, I Love Your Way” and “Breaking All The Rules,” which to this day remain rock radio staples. With a hefty solo catalog and a new album to pull from, Frampton should have no problem taking on Los Angeles, one riff at a time.

Peter Frampton will take the Greek Theatre June 12. Tickets available here.
