Getty Gets Musical with Saturdays Off the 405

There are a number of venues to take in concerts in L.A., but when music fans want to branch out and check out a show somewhere new they can head to the Getty for their Saturdays Off the 405 series throughout the summer. From power pop outlets to a man who has a quarter of a decade under his belt, this year’s pack of artists is off the charts when it comes to variety and talent.

This series is always a popular one and the Getty suggests getting there early to beat the crowds. In addition, getting their early ensures some extra time to take in the different galleries and the views from atop the hill. They’re stunning at sunset, and on a good day one can see all the way to the ocean. Those who make it out are in for a treat as each month from June through September has something new to offer.

Those who like the sounds of the ‘60s will want to attend the start of Saturdays Off the 405 on June 20 with Shannon and the Clams. The psychedelic group is a blast from the past that has a rockabilly edge. Waters takes attendees from the groovy ways of the past into the present with their power pop in mid-July. Fans of Bjork will want to head out at the end of August for Hundred Waters. Closing out the series and the summer will be the one and only Mac McCaughan + The Non-Believers. He’s bringing his career that spans over 25 years to the Courtyard at the Getty for an evening of music and storytelling.

Get out and don’t be one of those people who stay indoors all summer. The Getty has a place to be on the weekends, so take advantage of this free series throughout those hot months. The bands are just one aspect. There is also DJ sets that open and close, delicious food stations and a cash bar.

Saturdays Off the 405 at the Getty starts June 20 and runs through Sept. 19.
