American musician, singer/songwriter and actor Harry Connick Jr. has managed to dabble in just about every form of entertainment out there, and be highly successful in each. Harry has sold over 28 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling male artist of all time. With over 25 studio albums under his belt and his most recent success, 2013’s “Every Man Should Know,” Harry has decided to bring his award winning voice to the stage of the Hollywood Bowl.
Harry’s love of music began earlier than most, performing as a pianist and vocalist at the mere age of five in his home of New Orleans. His obvious talent caught the attention of two of the city’s great keyboard aficionados, beginning with the revered James Booker. Connick played alongside the legend for years at local clubs learning how to perform for a crowd, until he met and impressed Ellis Marsalis who helped Harry fine tune his musicianship and mastery of the piano during his teenage years. Leaving NOLA to further pursue his musical endeavors, Harry headed to New York at 18 with an encyclopedic knowledge of Jazz in tow. Connick began his steady rise to fame with the releasing of his first album “Dixieland Plus” in 1977, and the rest is history. Harry has had seven top 20 US albums, as well as ten number-one US jazz albums the most of any charting any US jazz musician in history. Now that’s what we call a resume.
With three Grammys and two Emmy Awards under his belt, Harry Connick Jr. Is more than prepared to take on the crowds on his 2015 summer tour. His stunning vocals, attuned musicianship and charismatic stage presence make Harry one of the most exciting Jazz performers to witness live, let alone underneath the lights of the Hollywood Bowl.
