‘Swipe Right to Vote Left’ Brings Original Comedy to Second City

The original production of “Swipe Right to Vote Left” will be coming to Second City. The show is an original sketch review written and performed by Jeremiah Burton, Steve Harwood, David Neale, Zoe Moacanin, Abra Moore, Ali Pickard, Ric Rosario, and Diana Savone with direction from Dwayne Colbert, assistant direction by Carl Tart and musical direction by Ben Bromfield.

Second City first opened in Chicago in 1959 and has since become a staple of American comedy with roots in the improv game thanks to Viola Spolin. In 1960, the Second City in Chicago began to offer classes. Five years later, Second City went on its first national tour and later opened a theater in Los Angeles, out of which came both shows and classes that spread the art of comedy and improv.

After opening in Chicago, Second City expanded next to Toronto with several shows in places like London and included a National Tour. It was becoming not only a respected name in comedy but one of the biggest. It drew in the crème de la crème like John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, and eventually, even debuted on Saturday Night Live with those same alumni. Second City even premiered in television, on SCTV, and garnered critical acclaim, winning an Emmy in 1982.  The troupe has spread to Scotland, Detroit, Las Vegas and more.

From workshops to television acting, Second City has become the name for comedic development for those who are involved in the craft or those seeking to cultivate skills.  Their upcoming show, “Swipe Right to Vote Left” will be sure to include laughs, music, dancing and a level of hilarious professionalism only Second City can deliver.

Swipe Right to Vote Left” will be at the  Second City Hollywood theater beginning Jan 7 and goes until April 21.  Tickets can be purchased here.
