Riot LA Festival Brings Comedy Heavy Hitter Patton Oswalt to The Regent

Patton Oswalt, known for both his standup and his performances in films such as “Ratatouille,” will be performing on the last night of the comedy festival, Riot LA, taking place all over downtown Los Angeles from Jan 29-31. Oswalt’s show “Patton Oswalt Can Always Go Downtown” will be at the Regent.

Oswalt began doing standup and writing for MADtv in the 80s and 90s. While appearing in several films and television shows like “Magnolia,” “22 Jump Street” and “The King of Queens,” he also continued his career focusing on things such as pop culture, comics, and super villains as well as commenting on heavier issues like American materialism, foreign policy and even religion, including his own atheism.

Oswalt recently hosted his own standup special, “Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time,” which premiered on TV and was available for purchase in the Spring of 2014.  Like the rest of his comedy, it focused on black humor, surreal humor and observational comedy.

It is a well-known fact that Patton Oswalt is a fan of “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” a show that cracks jokes and makes fun of old science fiction movies live over the viewing of the film, commentary style.  He hosted a reunion panel of the cast of the show at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con International.  It was already a huge enough blessing when news hit that the show would return to air but it came as icing on the cake when it was announced that Patton Oswalt, heavy hitting comedian and huge all around geek would be joining the cast, alongside Felicia Day, in the reboot of the series.

Patton Oswalt is the intersection of nerdy and cool comedian, and he’ll bring the best of both worlds to the Regent in downtown Los Angeles on Jan. 31.

Patton Oswalt will perform in his show “Patton Oswalt Can Always Go Downtown” on Jan. 31 at the Regent.  Tickets can be purchased here.
