Vance Joy Brings Elle King and Jamie Lawson to Shrine Expo Hall for ‘Fire and the Flood’ Tour

Vance Joy first made his mark on the alternative music scene in 2013 with his massive single “Riptide,” which became the longest-charting single in Australian music sales history. The song also had a strong showing in America, becoming one of the year’s longest-charting singles in the United States as well. The young Australian folk-pop master has garnered comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Paul Kelley though he infuses those classic sounds with a touch of modern indie rock influence. His current run of concerts is titled The Fire and The Flood Tour and is named after the latest single from “Dream Your Life Away,” his debut studio full-length. Vance Joy’s North American tour arrives in Los Angeles this March with an appearance at the Shrine Expo Hall.
While “Riptide” is most associated with “Dream Your Life Away,” it in fact, is one of Vance Joy’s oldest songs written all the way back in 2008. After shelving it and music as a career, friends heard him play it at open mic gigs and encouraged him to become more serious about performing and writing. The song was included on his 2013 extended play, “God Loves You When You’re Dancing.”
Joining The Fire and The Flood Tour is the eclectic American singer-songwriter Elle King. The daughter of comedian Rob Schneider, she has appeared in several films but is clearly focused on her music career right now. Her most recent single, “Ex’s & Oh’s” blends a jazzy retro vibe in the chorus with a sugar-sweet pop hook that showcases her incredible pipes. The result is a track that fits in as well on pop radio as it does on alternative rock stations, driving sales of her debut full-length “Love Stuff” and even getting nominated for two GRAMMY Awards.
Also, on tour with Vance Joy is Jamie Lawson who hails from St. Budeaux in the United Kingdom and is signed to Ed Sheeran’s label Gingerbread Man Records. This songwriter is known for his pleasant acoustic song structures and emotionally-vulnerable vocal work. The 2015 single “Wasn’t Expecting That” brought Lawson his first major international success.
