Jane Lynch Continues to Rise in ‘SEE JANE SING’ at Largo

The only people who don’t know of Jane Lynch are the few unlucky souls without a television. For the past several years, Lynch has been everywhere on the tube: breakout star of “Glee,” host of NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night,” host of the Emmy Awards (and winner of three of them) . . . and the list goes on. But now, fans can see Lynch live when she performs in “SEE JANE SING” on March 23 and 24 at Largo at the Coronet on La Cienega Blvd. The cabaret-style show, which kicks off a 15-city national tour, will feature Lynch’s performance of various musical theater hits and original numbers, and Lynch will be joined by Kate Flannery (“The Office”) and “Glee” vocal arranger Tim Davis. Lynch and friends will be accompanied by Southern California jazz combo the Tony Guerrero Quintet who will also open the show.

Prior to her current fame, Lynch spent many years in the performing trenches including guest appearances on “3rd Rock from the Sun” and in the 2000 sleeper comedy “Best in Show.” But it was her hilarious turn as Paula, Steve Carell’s sex-starved store manager in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” (2005) that sent her star on the rise. In one scene from that film, Lynch shows off her singing voice when she reminisces about the “beautiful Guatemalan love song that our gardener, Javier, sang just before he made passionate, yet gentle love to me for the first time.” Meanwhile, Lynch was making waves with her recurring role as Charlie and Alan’s therapist on “Two and a Half Men.” Then, when she appeared as Coach Sue Sylvester in the 2009 premiere of “Glee” . . . well, odds are you know the rest of the story.

In a 2015 interview for “SEE JANE SING,” which is in its second year of touring, Lynch said that the act is “a musical journey through a world of songs that have very little to do with one another.” A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the national Adopt the Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization that funds arts programs in schools.
