The Kills Slay at The Mayan

Fresh off their Coachella weekend one performance, The Kills – Alison “VV” Mosshart and Jamie “Hotel” Hince – transformed The Mayan into a hot, sweaty, all out rock n’ roll show reminiscent of the ‘90s grunge rock era.

With every hard hit of the snare and strum of the bass, Allison danced around the stage keeping the energy high throughout the entire performance; her hair frequently covering her face as she belted out song after song while Jamie wailed on the guitar. The crowd sang along as they rocked “Doing it to Death,” their newest chart-topping hit.

As the two closed in on the end of their set, they took a moment to sit on the amplifiers and play to the crowd with outstretched arms reaching toward their feet. When Alison and Jamie left the stage prior to their encore, not one person left the room. The crowd went wild as the band returned to play “Tape Song” off “Midnight Boom,” their biggest U.S. hit album.

It was certainly a surprise to most that The Kills did not play their most popular track “Future Starts Slow,” nevertheless, the duo left their hearts on the stage and fans seemed grateful that they were there to witness it.

The Kills played The Mayan on April 18.
