Gwen Stefani Takes New Album on The Road With ‘This Is What the Truth Feels Like Tour’

It is difficult to imagine a time when singer Gwen Stefani was not one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Even with a successful career as a singer/fashion designer/actress/model, Stefani’s personal life has been tumultuous. It has been barely more than a year since her marriage to fellow rock star Gavin Rossdale ended, making her relationships prime fodder for tabloid gossip. Stefani’s first album to be released post-split, “This Is What The Truth Feels Like” is a surprisingly upbeat record that avoided the “breakup album” label and focused on her new romance.

Of course, Stefani is used to injecting her relationship statuses into the themes and lyrics of her music. Her first huge hit with No Doubt was inspired by the dissolution of her partnership with bassist Tony Kanal. “Don’t Speak” propelled the group initially to rock notoriety and eventually to mainstream pop fame. While No Doubt has never broken up, they are known for taking long hiatuses during which Stefani has pushed her solo career. To date, she’s released three studio full-length albums on her own. Her solo debut was “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” in ‘04, which she followed up two years later with “The Sweet Escape.” Her first album was filled with quirky pop hits that infused her unique style onto a standard hip-hop, R&B and pop template as in with “Hollaback Girl” and “Rich Girl.” While a success, her sophomore effort wasn’t as well-received. After 10 years of waiting, “This Is What The Truth Feels Like” arrived in March.

Speaking of “Rich Girl,” Stefani fans can expect that song to be one of the hits included on her set list since the opener on her tour is none other than Eve who also appeared on the track 12 years ago. The rapper from Philadelphia gained fame as a member of Ruff Ryders releasing her first three LPs under the label. After taking a significant break from music, she released her fourth album in 2013 titled “Lip Lock.”

Southern California has two opportunities to catch Gwen Stefani with special guest Eve as they perform at The Forum on Oct. 15 & 16. Find tickets here and here.
